Meet Your Instructors

Remarkably Resilient co-founders and sisters, Kathleen Harnish McKune and Karen Dickson, are childhood trauma survivors who have been teaching workshops on the neuroscience of trauma and resilience since October 2019. They have an uncanny ability to provide information in easy-to-digest language, weaving in practical examples to help ground learning for all people, including professionals exposed to vicarious/secondary trauma, since every one of us has experienced trauma and high stress at some point in our lives. Karen’s professional experience as a former EMT and ER Tech allows her to provide practical application examples in healthcare environments. In addition to RRT, Kathleen and Karen are both HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) certified facilitators from Tufts Medical Center, teaching how positive experiences can counteract the harmful effects of adverse childhood experiences. Meet the Panelists: Judi Rodman, CEO and President, Sunflower House (child advocacy center for Johnson and Wyandotte counties); Tim DeWeese, Director, Johnson County Mental Health Center and community behavioral health advocate; Kendra Pickstock, Correctional Advisor II, Johnson County Department of Corrections Therapeutic Community (a substance use treatment program).
